Steve Lunn
Having grown up and educated in Otago, Steve moved to Hawkes Bay via Gisborne in 1975. He started out at Sainsbury Logan & Williams and was made partner. A partner at Elvidge & Partners before starting Lunn & Associates, Steve has over 40 years experience in New Zealand law. He specialises in trusts, wills, relationship property, commercial residential and rural property, commercial and company law. Steve is a Notary Public. He has a number of highly valued commercial and farming clients whom he counts as friends.
Steve has also served on the boards of many organisations throughout Hawkes Bay and New Zealand. These include the New Zealand Rugby Union, the Hawkes Bay Rugby Union, Otago University Alumni Association and others. Having played rugby for two provinces and been a nationally ranked athlete, Steve still finds time to run and see as much rugby as he can in his role as a current Hawkes Bay Rugby Union Director.

Lisa Johnstone
Lisa Johnstone is a Napier-based lawyer and Director at Lunn & Associates. Admitted to the High Court in 2008, Lisa has built her career on providing practical, straightforward legal advice that clients can genuinely understand and act on with confidence.
Known for her calm, approachable manner, Lisa takes the time to listen carefully and work alongside her clients to achieve sensible, effective outcomes. She values strong relationships and believes good communication is at the heart of good legal service.
Outside the office, you will find Lisa looking after her two children, serving on community boards and catching up with friends.

Shannon McEwen
Raised in a small farming community in the Bay of Plenty, Shannon developed a strong work ethic, practical perspective, and deep appreciation for community values, qualities that continue to inform his professional approach.
Shannon commenced practice in Wellington, where he gained broad experience across a diverse range of legal matters before joining Lunn & Associates. Shannon has extensive expertise in residential and commercial transactions, residential and unit title developments and subdivisions, relationship property, family law, and asset protection. He is committed to building strong client relationships, taking the time to understand each client’s unique circumstances and delivering clear, pragmatic advice that enables informed and confident decision-making.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Shannon remains actively engaged in his community and is dedicated to giving back, regularly contributing his time and expertise to charitable and community initiatives.

Dan Lunn
After 10 years as a golf professional, Dan joins Lunn & Associates as Practice Manager. Born and bred in Napier, he has a degree in Education and has lived abroad as well as various parts of New Zealand. Dan has a particular interest in systems and serves to further streamline the inner workings of the practice.
Golf, of course, is still of interest as are most sports including his number one passion – rugby. Dan’s two children, Ollie and Hannah, keep him on his toes. Dan is also a landscape artist whose work features at cafes around Hawkes Bay."

Elaine Tomlinson
Personal secretary to Steve, Elaine has almost 20 years experience in legal firms including 10 with Steve. Familiar with all parts of the legal practice she thrives on the day-to-day challenges that the law brings.
Elaine is a keen fisherwoman, regularly competing in game contests. She is also an avid participant in all types of fitness training.

Rowena Brown
Legal Secretary
With over 13 years’ experience in legal practice, including time as a Judge’s Personal Assistant with the Ministry of Justice, she brings extensive knowledge, accuracy, and organisational expertise to her role.
Her background spans family law, conveyancing, and general legal administration, where she has built a reputation for reliability, discretion, and exceptional attention to detail.
Friendly and empathetic by nature, she thrives in fast-paced environments and is highly skilled at managing multiple priorities with efficiency and care. A strong team player who can also work autonomously, she takes pride in supporting both colleagues and clients with professionalism and warmth.
Outside of work, she enjoys mountain biking, dance, bush walks, floristry, and spending quality time with family and friends.
